Wednesdays 5-7pm - bookings are essential.

We offer free interactive wellbeing workshops and discuss a different topic each week:

17th April - Understanding Stress and Anxiety

24th April - Effective Communication - Active Listening

1st May - Effective Communication - Safe Sharing

    8th May - Self-care

15th May - Strategies for Change

    22nd May - Setting Boundaries

Our two skilled facilitators provide a bit of insight into the topic, before the group discuss and share their experiences and strategies. Previous attendees say that it was a “good space to meet and feel comfortable to share experiences” and it was a “good balance between sharing and facilitators passing on info”.

So come and learn and connect with other women in a safe and supportive space.

  • Come and join us to craft, sew and thread wellbeing in a supportive, welcoming, open space. Following the arpilleras tradition from Latin America, we will be working creatively with fabrics while stitching our wellbeing and sense of community. Arpilleras emerged in Latin America as a way for women to craft, grow and support each other in challenging times. In our workshops we will build on this kaupapa while making it relevant to our current context.

Bookings are essential. All women welcome. No experience needed.

All materials provided, but feel free to bring any materials you love.

The workshop will run for 8 weeks on Fridays 10-11.30, starting on Friday 5 April at the Wellington Women’s Health Collective office (Level 5/175 Victoria Street).

These classes bring together "trauma informed" therapy alongside yoga for a holistic approach to health and well-being. Trauma informed care is based on a psychological philosophy that recognises distressing events as being impactful on the health of our body and mind. Unlike many models that have a pathological approach, that is "what is wrong with you?", trauma informed therapy instead focuses on "what happened to you?".

By practising asanas (poses) and breathing techniques that specifically target symptoms of trauma such as muscle tension and a malfunctioning limbic system, yoga gently teaches us how to calm our nerves when triggered, release emotions and blockages, and feel safe in our bodies. If you've experienced depression, anxiety, panic attacks, mental health crises', chronic pain conditions, PTSD, flashbacks and relentless grief, then these classes may be beneficial for you.

Suitable for beginners and no prior experience is required.

Libby teaches in a trauma-informed and supportive atmosphere, recognizing that everyone who comes to class brings with them their own story, knowledge and lived experiences. This eight-week women’s self-defence program is designed for every body shape and fitness level, focusing on building strength and confidence in a non-judgmental space. The curriculum is designed to start simple, and once students have gained confidence in their skills, strength and trusting their instincts, gradually learn more complex techniques. For this reason, we recommend that you take all 8 classes, but casual classes are an option. In completing this course you will gain a variety of effective strikes, skills in sensing and preventing danger, and defence techniques you could use in a variety of real life situations.
